IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls (EP 4)

This week the girls are tasked with making a PV video around the daily activities of the Cinderella Project. A simple premise and a nice throwback to the first episode of the 2011 series. Taking a much slower pace after the first three episodes and the Toki meki performance. I was a little upset with the slower pace first time watching, but after watching again I think its a good contrast being able to get to know the characters a bit better.

Focusing on the other girls in the group giving them all a good 3-5 minutes each was a good choice for the start, since I was still struggling to remember anyone’s name. I still am after the episode but I do understand the type of character we can expect from each girl. Which is more than can be asked four episodes into a show with a cast with more than ten characters, God knows how many side characters and Cathy Graham.

Why Working!! Doesn’t Work!! For me

It’s really disheartening when a show manages to get everything right aside from a single element that drags it into the dirt. Working!! Is the definition of this problem for me. Inami is the main problem of the show but it’s not her as a character that really brings it down, It’s the way the series focuses around her androphobia.

Review: Arakawa Under the Bridge

Arakawa is a series that I always struggle to put down why I actually love it so much. There are so many flaws I can list off the top of my head, but I still praise it. The best way I can think to describe Arakawa is an episodic Slice of life Comedy, with a slight narrative that only really comes up at the two book marking points of the story.

Koufuku Graffiti (First Impressions EP 1-3)

Koufuku Graffiti was a series I’ve been anticipating since early June since I found out Studio Shaft was picking it up and I knew I’d be watching since I am trying my best to stick to their shows as they’re always unique, Koufuku is no exception. Cute girls cooking is the description and I couldn’t think of a better way to summaries the series so far.

I have had very high expectations of this show since Shinbou himself said that “It will be the next Hidamari Sketch, it needs at least 3 seasons.” And since Hidamari is my favorite Anime I’ve seen, I think I may have over shot my expectations a little. From what I’ve seen so far this could well be the next Hidamari, it’s just a few flaws that stand out to me as massive since I pick out a lot of little details.

IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls (First Impressions EP 1-3)

Earlier this year I took the chance to watch the original 2011 Idolm@ster series and I’ve never been more happy with an Anime in my life. Everything about the series was fantastic, the story of would be Idol group 765 pro trying to make it to top Idol was something I loved in every aspect. Learning that the franchise was 5x bigger than I already knew was something that scared me, the idols worked best focusing on a small (for an Idol show) cast of 14 characters and discovering there’s more than 100 with Million Live, Side M, Dearly Stars & Cinderella Girls was frightening.

Cinderella Girls was a series i was reluctant to star watching worried that it would be a carbon copy of the formula that was already so successful for A-1 Pictures. Thankfully I feel as though so far Cinderella Girls is a much better experience than I could have predicted. Managing to diversify its self from the 2011 series and still keep me engaged in the story of rookie idols Uzuki, Rin and Mio.
